In March 2007, Johnny’s daughter, Lily-Rose, was rushed to hospital where she remained for nine days. While her illness was not disclosed, it had been reported she was hospitalised with blood poisoning after stepping on a rusty nail. Johnny invited the nurse who treated his daughter for the illness to the London premiere of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Johnny demanded a Moroccan-themed trailer on the set of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. When Johnny was a child, he had an allergy to chocolate.
Johnny’s parents are John Christopher and Betty Sue Palmer. His siblings are Danny, Christy, and Debbie. Christie is his personal manager while Danny works as a screenwriter. Johnny’s tattoo “Betty Sue” is in dedication to his mother.
Johnny is co-owner of the club ‘The Viper Room’ in Los Angeles. Actor River Phoenix died of drug-induced heart failure outside of the club in 1993. Before he turned it into ‘The Viper Room’, the building in which the club is housed was owned by famous gangster Bugsy Siegel.
Johnny co-owns a restaurant/club in Paris called ‘Man Ray’ (named after avant-garde artist Man Ray) with actors Sean Penn and John Malkovich. The restaurant is located in a renovated theater and serves Tibetan cuisine.
